A few things you need to know about the map:

For reasons no one can explain, we haven't found any web-based program that gives accurate directions to the cottage. Use the map below to get an idea of where the cottage is in the grand scheme of things. Stay on the satellite image, though - if you use the other views things get screwy. Directions are written below.

The cottage is located at 863/873 Basin Road. Look for a big blue house on the right. Any taxi can get you there. It will cost about $20 for a taxi from the airport. From the Ferry Terminal, a taxi will cost a whole lot more. Sometimes there is public transportation available - check at the terminal office. The best strategy is to make a friend on the ferry who will give you a lift downtown.

If you are driving...

From the Ferry Terminal: The Ferry Terminal is about 20 miles from downtown, but there is only one road to town, so the directions are easy.

• Exit the terminal parking area by taking a right.
• Stay on that road and you will eventually see McDonald’s on your right then a Fred Meyer department store on your left. Stay on the same road (the Egan Expressway) and you will finally see the bridge to Douglas Island on your right.
• Pass the bridge, get in the left lane, and at the second light turn left onto Main Street.
• Drive all the way to the top of Main Street, take a right on Seventh Street. Turn left on
  Gold Street (the first available left turn) and go to the top of Gold Street.
• At the top, the road will curve sharply right, then come to a stop sign at Basin Road. Turn left on Basin.
• The Cottage is on the right side of the street: a blue, 3-story house with the numbers 863 and 873 on it. There is room for two cars in the parking area in front of the house, one per apartment; please leave room for another guest when you park.

From the Airport:

• Follow the signs to downtown Juneau and you will head to town on the Egan expressway.
• You have reached town when you see the bridge to Douglas Island. Pass the bridge, get in the left lane, and at the second light turn left onto Main Street.
• Drive all the way to the top of Main Street, take a right on Seventh Street. Turn left on Gold Street (the first available left turn) and go to the top of Gold Street.
• At the top, the road will curve sharply right, then come to a stop sign at Basin Road. Turn left on Basin.
• The Cottage is on the right side of the street: a blue, 3-story house with the numbers 863 and 873 on it. There is room for two cars in the parking area in front of the house, one per apartment; please leave room for another guest when you park.

Important: If you are staying in the Forest Canopy apartment, go up the stairs next to the 863 sign (on the right side of the house). If you are staying in the Fiddlehead apartment, go up the stairs next to the 873 sign (on the left side of the house). Your apartment will be open and ready for you, the keys inside.
Note: Unless Sarah has arranged beforehand meet you, she will not be at the Cottage when you arrive. Please call her to let her know you arrived safely: 321-3396 (or 586-6898 after 6 pm). If you arrive after 10 pm, please call in the morning.
